“Let your mirror be your harshest critic… from now on, don’t look for shoulders to cry on, provide those shoulders; don’t seek friends, family or acquaintances to understand; show them how to believe in the new you, to love, appreciate and imitate your strength, resolve, and intelligence – and do act intelligently from now on. The past is behind you, the present should define you, the future beckons with open arms – your choice (and the choice of all women – and men) is to decide to be the essential you and improve on it; not to become what others expect of you … they have their lives to live, their mistakes to make, their becoming to become … that’s their business. Your business is to be you.”
